NearMe Privacy Policy
Who can use NearMe
NearMe is intended for adults age 18 and older. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. During setup you tell us whether you are 18–20 or 21 or over, and we use that to hide listings restricted to people 21 and over.
Information we collect
- Location: precise device location when you grant permission, or a city/address you enter. If you decline location access, you can choose a location manually.
- Preferences: interests, purposes, availability, travel radius, budget, social energy, age band, and accessibility preferences.
- Activity inside NearMe: event impressions, opens, saves, hides and hide reasons, ticket/source clicks, directions, shares, and post-event feedback. We also record app version, session identifier, and timestamps needed to measure whether recommendations are useful.
- Anonymous account identifier: Supabase creates a random authenticated identifier so your profile and activity are protected by per-user access rules. We do not require your name, email address, phone number, contacts, or social accounts.
- Subscription status: RevenueCat tells us whether your subscription is active. Apple processes payment; NearMe does not receive card details.
How we use information
- To retrieve events inside the radius you selected and rank them for your constraints.
- To learn from saves, dismissals, source clicks, directions, and outcome feedback.
- To remember preferences and locally saved event snapshots.
- To measure feed quality, retention, errors, and subscription performance.
- To prevent abuse, diagnose failures, and improve event accuracy.
Service providers
- Supabase: authentication, event data, preferences, interactions, and product-quality analytics.
- RevenueCat and Apple App Store: subscription status and payment processing. NearMe requires an active subscription to use.
- Expo and native map services: app infrastructure, notifications, geocoding, and map display.
- Anthropic: server-side extraction and discovery may receive a coarse search location, selected preferences, and public event or venue content. We do not send names, contact details, or Apple payment data.
- Google: Places data and venue photographs build the local venue catalog, and geocoding converts an address you type into coordinates.
- Event sources: we query Ticketmaster, Eventbrite, Meetup, ESPN, Pickleheads, public university calendars, public venue websites, and public Reddit posts using a coarse search area, never your identity. Opening a ticket or official source link takes you to that third party, whose privacy policy then applies.
Sharing and advertising
We do not sell personal information or share it with data brokers or advertising networks. Sponsored event placement, if introduced, will be labeled and will not involve cross-app tracking.
Retention and deletion
Local preferences and saved snapshots remain on your device until you clear them or delete the app. Server-side profile, interaction, and product-event records remain while you use NearMe or until deletion is requested. Operational logs and aggregated, de-identified statistics may be retained for security and product analysis.
Your choices
- Change or revoke location and notification permissions in device Settings.
- Change personalization constraints or clear local data from the You tab.
- Manage or cancel your subscription through Apple ID → Subscriptions.
- Request access to or deletion of server-side data by emailing dbh28tekkit@gmail.com with the subject “NearMe data request.”
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of your personal information, and to withdraw consent for location processing. Because NearMe holds no name or email address, we identify your records by the anonymous identifier described above, so email us from the device so we can locate your data. Write to dbh28tekkit@gmail.com with the subject “NearMe data request.” We do not charge for a request and we will not treat you differently for making one. We have not sold or shared personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising in the past twelve months.
Where your data is processed
NearMe is operated from the United States, and our service providers process data in the United States and other countries. If you use NearMe from outside the United States, you understand that your information is transferred to and processed there.
Security
NearMe uses encrypted network connections and Supabase row-level security. No online service can guarantee absolute security, so we limit collection to what is needed to run and improve the product.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy as NearMe changes. The effective date above identifies the current version. Questions can be sent to dbh28tekkit@gmail.com.
